Keith Urban

I think only Keith Urban
can get away with this look
(no, sorry dear hubby,
you ARE a hunk but this look is NOT for you).
The castaway facial hair
is clearly intentional
(as his chest is cleanly shaven).

Roadtrip (Part 2 Of 4)

Posted on May 12th, 2010 in Short Stories by kimber

There had been no fighting for the passenger seat. There hadn’t even been a discussion. One flash of Christie’s big brown eyes and the teens slinked to the back seat, no questions asked. Dan held the door open for her. Her thrust back shoulders brushed against his chest as she entered. She didn’t try to disguise her intensity. Christie was a ballbuster, strength and power wrapped in a deceptively soft five foot nothing frame.

She turned Dan on. Big time.

He rounded the front of the Mercedes, tapping the hood as he moved. The long trip was looking shorter by the second. Offering a ride to the teens had been an act of charity. He opened the door and plunked his butt down in the driver’s seat. Offering a ride to the gorgeous brunette now riding shotgun was purely selfish. He wanted to get to know her better, much better.

“This is an expensive trip for you.” Her clipped words filled the car, as did her scent, the vanilla mixing with the new car smell. “You won’t get your full purchase price back.”

She knew it wasn’t a rental. She was that clever. “If I resell it.” The rental car lots had been empty so he had bought the car instead. He’d give it to one of his salespeople to drive once they reached London.

“If you resell it.” She snapped a seatbelt over generous breasts. Dan envied that scrap of material. “Are we taking turns driving?”

He backed the car out of the parking space. “No.” He wanted her attention on him, not the road. “I’d rather a seventeen year old-” as he lowered his voice, she leaned closer to him “-not drive my brand new Mercedes. It might hurt its market value… IF I resell it.”

“If you resell it.” She laughed, a deep, throaty sound that made small hairs on the back of his neck stand up. “That is too true.” She slipped a hand into her black leather purse and took out a Blackberry. “You want to work? I’ll be your secretary.”

That was not the position he envisioned her in. He merged into traffic. “If we’re going to play office, I’d rather you be the boss.”

He grinned at the hitch in her breath.

Marcy Arbitman - A Romance Reading Buddy

Posted on May 9th, 2010 in Writing by kimber

I just read that one of our romance reading buddies, Marcy Arbitman, passed away from thyroid cancer on May 6th.

Marcy was not only a strong supporter of brand new authors but she was a positive, wonderful person. She would send me encouraging notes after each Kimber Chin story she read (and she read them all). We’d have discussions over the romances we loved (and boy, were there a lot of those! We both love romance).

I feel that if we make an impact on just one life, our life has been worth living. Marcy made an impact on entire generations of romance writers. She will be greatly missed.
