Jeffery Carman And Katherine The Great
In my short story, Released, Edenia and Alvar rescue and retrain abandoned animals. Every day, real heroes and heroines do the same. These kind hearted folks rescue animals, match them up with new owners, or take these wonderful animals into their own homes.
Jeffery Carman and his wife are two such real life heroes. When Jeffery sent me his story, I knew I had to share it with you.

“My wife and I decided we wanted a long hair Ragdoll cat. After a lot of checking and searching we found a purebred cat rescue organization up near Sacramento, CA. The adoption questionnaire/form was three pages long. It was like adopting a human child.” “I even had to put references and our vet info on the application form and they did call them.” “They do good work to get the right cat to the right home.”
“We got our girl from Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue. There are many of these organizations for all the animals. I started out with Google - animal rescue then clicked on cats and then Ragdoll to get to this place.” “You can skip Google and just put petfinder.com. Then on the left hand side enter the type of pet: cat, breed: Ragdoll (my case) and your location then enter. That’s it. It was easy.” “They put up pictures of individual cats and tell a little about them.”

“Last July 25th we went to Napa Valley, California on our 42nd anniversary. We rode in a hot air balloon in the early morning. Something I always wanted to experience. It was great. After that we drove about 30 miles to go pick up our new family member - Katherine The Great. She is a big (13 pounds) beautiful girl. She has integrated into our home and lives with ease.”

“So many people have been losing their homes and abandoning their pets of all kinds. Our son and his family have recently adopted four chinchillas. The news is full of the people losing homes but seldom mentions the abandoned pets.”
“All the rescue people are so helpful and doing such a great service for these animals in finding good homes.” “I think these people deserve a lot of credit for finding good homes for displaced animals.”

“Katherine will sit for two or three hours a day watching the hummingbirds feed. The birds know she can’t get them and they are only six or eight inches away. We have a better perch for Katherine now.”
