Don’t mess with Ginny.

Anne made that mental note as her sister once again cut Fawn down to size. It was going well, she supposed, feeling guilt over the plan. Stanley had recruited some of his ‘friends’ to shower attention on Ginny, ignoring Fawn. Interestingly, other men did the same.

Lemmings. Anne didn’t think much of such weak men.

But those weak men were contributing to the plan. Standing with their broad backs to her. Nancy and her busy hands were distracting the ever considerate Ted, leaving Fawn pushed to the side.

She wasn’t liking that. Anne read it in her pinched lips and her stiff posture. The woman was miserable.

Anne fought her need to console the woman. She wouldn’t appreciate it, not from the roommate she despised and…

Stanley ‘accidentally’ bumped into Fawn, spilling his drink on her bare arm.

“Watch where you’re going, you f**kin’ fairy!” spewed from those perfect pink lips.

Shocked silence. All around them.

Ted’s eyes were wide. Like he had never heard that language from his friend. Anne had. Plenty of times. Usually directed at her.

“Fawn.”

“No.” A manicured finger lifted. “Don’t you f**kin’ dare lecture me, Mister High And Mighty. Standing over there playing footsies with that trailer trash tramp of yours. All you had to do was…”

“Tramp?” Nancy broke in, her face red. “You have the nerve to call me a…”

“Nance.” Anne stepped between them. “I don’t think…”

“Obviously.” Bitterness from Fawn. “Look at your f**kin’ hair.”

“Fawn.” Ted tried again.

“No.” She slung her purse over her shoulder. “I’m out of here. I don’t need you, Ted. I thought I did but I don’t. I’ll find another father for…” And then she broke off, realizing she had said too much.

Before they could react, she was gone.
