“Helloooo Miss Frowny Face.” Stanley plopped down on the chair beside Anne. “What are you doing here of all places?” He looked around him in amazement.
“I do go to the library, Stanley.” Anne grumbled. She didn’t want to be here, all that dust and who knows what else floating around.
“Only to grab books and then scurry back to your room to clean them.” He propped his handsome face up by his well manicured hands. “Is the big boobsy blonde still scaring you?” He didn’t sound too sympathetic.
“She uses my clean towels and then,” her top lip curled, “drops them on the dirty floor.” Anne shivered. “She clips her toenails using my clipper,” and this was the topper, “on my bed AND doesn’t clean up afterwards.” How someone could live that way, she didn’t know.
“Ohhh…” Stanley’s eyes were wide. Was that? Around the edges? No, Anne shook her head. He couldn’t be using eyeliner. “Annie Bananie, she’s got to be leaving soon. What has it been? A week?”
“NINE days, and.” She checked her watch. “seven hours and she’s not leaving soon. You know why?”
“Why?” Stanley pulled his chair closer, expecting a story.
“Ted feels so bad, he visits her every day. And because she’s lonely with just her green haired freak for company.” Stanley winced at the reminder of his mistake. Anne patted his arm reassuringly. She didn’t hold it against him. “They talk on the phone constantly.”
“Poor Nancy.” Stanley echoed her thoughts. “Is Ted?”
Anne knew what he was asking. “Not yet. He still looks at her like an annoyingly needy friend but it is only time…” After years of being around her gorgeous younger sister Ginny, Anne knew. No guy could resist a pretty woman for long.
“We’ve’s gots to do something, Dyna-Annie.”
