The First Kiss…Almost

“I had a good time tonight.”  Nancy peered up at Ted.  Would he kiss her now?  Lord, she hoped so.  Not even a peck on the cheek.  Despite giving signals even a blind man would pick up on.

“I did too.”  Ted shifted his weight from one foot to another.  “We should do this again sometime.”

A second date!  Nancy almost did a happy jig in front of the dorm building.  Instead she played it cool with a smile and “I’d like that.”

Ted smiled back, his shoulders easing down a bit.  “How about Friday? The Flaming Scientists are playing at the pub.”

Friday, Nancy had a date with Stanley.  She had agreed to let him cut her hair.  But being a good friend, he’d understand.  “I can do Friday.”  Or Saturday or Sunday or heck, any day of the week if it was Ted Sherbourne asking.

“Sounds good.”  A shrug but no movement other than that.

Nancy glanced at the door.  She should go in now unless…

Another glance at Ted.  Nothing.  He was playing with his belt buckle.  Otherwise ignoring her.

Well, crap, desperate times called for desperate measures.

“Ted.”  Nancy flipped her hair back, tilted her head, and leisurely licked her lips, combining all the kissing come-ons that she, with her limited experience, knew of.

It seems to work.  Ted stepped closer, she leaned into his body and…

Whack

Their noses connected with so much force that Nancy’s eyes watered.  “Awww…”

Ted turned a fiery red which would have been interesting to see if Nancy actually could.  “I’m sorry Nancy.  I… I…”  He stepped back.  “I’ll see you on Friday.”  And before she could take her hands away from her face, he was gone.
